iMAR's CANaerospace Implementation now certified
15 October 2026
It is hereby confirmed that all iNAT units developed and manufactured by iMAR Navigation GmbH, with the firmware according to the iMAR document ICD DOC260626190 Rev. 1.00, are fully compliant with the CANaerospace standards 1.7 and 2.0.
CANaerospace 2.0 – Communication Standard for Aviation
CANaerospace is an open communication standard for CAN-based avionics systems, developed by Stock Flight Systems. It enables the standardized exchange of navigation, sensor, control, and status data between airborne systems.
Defined message identifiers, data types, and status information simplify the integration of equipment from different manufacturers. Mechanisms for data monitoring, synchronization, and redundancy support reliable real-time communication.
CANaerospace is resource-efficient and supports CAN messages with 11-bit and 29-bit identifiers.
The international aviation standard ARINC 825 was developed based on CANaerospace and extends its approach with additional specifications. ARINC 825 exclusively uses 29-bit identifiers and defines additional requirements for physical interfaces, bit timing, and system integration. Both standards are based on CAN. CANaerospace provides a flexible, open solution, while ARINC 825 offers a more comprehensive level of standardization for aerospace applications.
